Sharc – Recovery Support (Carnegie, Vic)

Additionally staff run a day program which assists young people in their recovery journey.

The day program focuses on psycho-social, educational and recreational activities which promotes connectedness, wellness and community. RSS has four permanent staff on-site comprising of a Team Leader and three Support Workers.

Recent activities provided to the young people have included a camping trip to Wilsons Prom, participation in the Hepatitis Victoria Street Shot photo competition, the opportunity to participate in Speaker Bureau forums, entry to the 2014 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix and facilitation of attendance to 12 step meetings.

RSS focuses on the need to equip individuals with a range of skills to build on their strengths in the community. An Individual Recovery Plan is developed by each client, with the support of a worker.

The plan guides the recovery process, including identification of current environmental issues, goal setting, strategies for success and regular interviews.
RSS is a peer based community.

Professionally trained staff and residents have experienced the problems of addiction and are now living in the solution.

As a result we have developed unique insights and intimate understandings only available to those who have lived through the experience.
